SAMSENG JALANAN'S’ PROBLEM

Slicing through the traffic in high speed, massive convoy ruling the streets and many more breath taking action is done by the “samseng jalanan”. It has haunting all of us since 1980’s. Since we didn’t stop them 20 years back, now they’ve outrun us. Recently, they dare to terrorize and snatched our citizen without having any guilt or shame. They’ve seems to be getting worst each days and that leaves our government counter measures outdated. Hence, these issues should be addressed urgently by introducing an alternative strategy, reconsidering our law and impact approach.

The crime rate that over flood our statistics nowadays often linked to “samseng jalanan”, so there should be an appropriate solution to these criminal or so called “samseng jalanan”. Our policy today in criminal issues would be deterrence policing, but it is not shows the great impact through the years. A well constructed policing like the “problem oriented policing” would be a breakthrough to “samseng jalanan” issues.

Next, a cutting edge reforming law and punishment could take over the problem at the root. “samseng jalanan” is classified as social problem at first and turned into criminal problem. So reconsidering our law and punishment would be a catalysed in decrease “ samseng jalanan” problem. When we classify it as a social problem, it should be overcome because it will influence the others if it cannot be solve in a shorter time.

The government should tighten up the law and confiscate the samseng jalanan’s bikes if they are caught breaking the law. However, even police are now resorting to this tactic to keep illegal racers off the roads as enforcement alone does not seem to be working. The motorcycle owners will be fined between RM300 and RM2,000 if found guilty of allowing underage riders to use their motorcycles. This will serve as a stern warning to the motorcycle owners who allow underage riders to use their vehicles without licenses and road tax. So, it is important for them to tighten the law.

Apart from that family members and friends of samseng jalanan should be responsible about these problems. They should take an action to avoid their children from getting involved in the activities because the motorists’ safety on the road will be endangered and the accident rate in the country will always be a frightening figure to the public. So, it is necessary for each party to overcome the problem.

At the end of the day, we can’t afford to have another people die in the hand of snatch thief or our children hit by these thugs. An immediate action should be taken addressed by our responsible body or this thing will just be the beginning of their era. Throughout research made by having alternative strategy that could reform our criminal justice policies, reconsidering our law as well our punishment and an impact approach towards “samseng jalanan”. Action should be taken towards those people who involve in the activities in order to build a country which is free from those unbeneficial activities.
