Beginning in 1956, UiTM experienced phenomenal growth and also becomes one of the Malaysia's premier institution of higher learning. The university has expanded nationwide with 15 branch campuses, three satellite campuses, nine city campuses, 21 affiliated colleges and a smart campus for the future. With this vast network and a workforce of 15 000, the university offers more than 300 academic programmes in a conducive and vibrant environment.
Basically, its formation is based on a vision of outstanding scholarship and academic excellence that is capable of providing leadership in all fields of internationally recognized professional study. The main aim for the University is to help the Bumiputera which they prepare the right place for them to study.
Today, the university has an enrolment of nearly 120,000 students spread through out the country registered in all the different modes of study and disciplines. UiTM being a pioneer institution of higher learning is totally committed to producing a significant number of Bumiputera professionals who are skilled in a broad spectrum of competencies covering a wide range of industrial and vocational requirements.
The University is committed to help Bumiputera students achieve at the highest scholarly levels and to prepare them for careers in public and professional practice in various fields. Its formation is based on a vision of outstanding scholarship and academic excellence that is capable of providing leadership in various arenas.
Besides, this University also given the mandate by the government that UiTM student’s enrolment will be expected to increase to 200,000 in ten years time, the university responded positively as it will contribute towards development of the human capital and increasing the national productivity of the country.
As we all know, UiTM is for the Bumiputera in order to help them to build and place themselves in the industry. Basically, it is provide the right for them to enter the University of higher learning without any competance with the other ethnic. There are a lot of people that manage to become somebody and success in their career through UiTM. Basically, the University helps people to be in the right track of their future.
In order to respond to the challenge of huge student enrolments and internationalisation of higher education, the management of the university is confident with the potential of the technology, most especially the growing availability of Internet connections and for the example is E-learning that could be the solution to the growth of the student population for the university within the time given and the promotion of life long learning by taking advantage of the technological opportunity. UiTM always serve the best for the student to make sure that they can study in a comfortable way.
As a conclusion, UiTM helps student especially Bumiputera to gain knowledge. Moreover, the University manages to expose student in order to prepare them for the industry in a various fields and also in different arenas.
