Nowadays, we heard about our youth involved in criminals. Violent crimes committed by youths are on the increase and have reached a worrying level. The crime committed by youth is getting serious and increase day by day. They seem to ignore rules and law. They do everything without thinking about the consequences in future.
There are so many factors that lead them to behave like that. One of the factors is the emergence of a new trend make the younger generation are showing disrespect and they could not care less about the law. Sometimes, they adapt culture from other country which can make them ignore the law. They did not realize that the effect from their action is serious.
Apart from that, they have no regard for people in authority, including police officers, teachers or even doctors. For example, Const Arizan Mohamad, 24, suffered fractures on his collarbone and both legs after he was rammed by youths on a motorcyle while manning a roadblock at Jalan Masjid Abidin on Sept 16. He was police officers but the youth still manage to do such action. They neglect the law and at the same time losing their humanity.
They don’t have the basic value in terms of respect for the law and this can be detrimental to the country itself. The youth should be involved in the activities that manage to bring advantages for them. For example, there should be activities in school where youth sections often formed part of school structures and organized various activities. Gradually, reaching out systematically to young people essentially through the school system became the main aim of many programmes and thus their content was broadened.
Although the involvement of young people in violence is not a new phenomenon in itself, it is seen as a particularly dangerous trend at the turn of the century, when the constants that were traditionally supposed to regulate social relationships which are the family unit, religious structures, and traditional role models are being undermined. When they neglect the law, then they will ignore everything and will do everything based on their thinking. They need to be informed and realize that the law is something that should be respect and follow. If there is no action taken then it will bring them to go against the law again and again.
Government need to change their approach to policing accordingly to the pace of development. Nowadays, there are a lot of medium that can be used in order to attract youth to listen to them such as social networking.. For example, such as forming a Facebook account and a media centre at Bukit Aman, which will help the authorities in its crime-fighting efforts. It is necessary to help them to interact with people especially teenagers in order to avoid them from involve in unbeneficial activitis.
Moreover, the police also work hard to foster closer ties with the public through the formation of more Rakan Cop schemes and also through sports and social clubs. They will receive an overwhelming response from the people, who provided them with information on crime. It is important to used a medium that closed to the youth because through that there will be a communication between the police and the youth itself.
Society also should play their roles in order to educate the youth about the law. Parents should monitor their children and at the same time try to avoid them from involve in such activities. The information that they get from their parents and school is important to educate them about the law. When they know about it wisely, then they will know the consequences if the go against the law. So, it is necessary for each party to be responsible in order to educate young generations to become generation that manages to lead our country to become a successful country all over the world.
